truck driver & staying fit on road

It can definitely be challenging when you are truck driver & staying fit on road. However, there are a few strategies out there that may help. Let’s take a look at some of the ways that you can try to get more exercise and be healthier when you’re out on the road all the time.

Truck Driver & Staying Fit On the Road

Join a Nationwide Gym

One of the things that many people do not realize is that there are nationwide gyms that you can join that will allow you to work out at any location that you want. Planet Fitness is one of the gyms that allow this. You want to check carefully before you sign up, because it is really hard to get out of a gym contract, and you want to make sure that the gym has locations where you are going.

Look for Healthier Food Options

Even truck stops carry healthy options these days. Look for healthier food options when you’re eating out. Make some sandwiches instead of eating the chicken fried steak special at the truck stop restaurant. Be aware of how many calories foods contain, and try to limit yours as much as possible.

Take Fitness Breaks When You Can

If you are presented with a block of down time, maybe while you are waiting for your trailer to be ready, you can take fitness breaks. If you are going to be down for an hour or more, consider changing into a jogging suit and tennis shoes and taking a run. Even if you are only going to be down for 15 minutes or so, you can get out of your truck and walk around. Even the short amount of exercise that you get from walking will burn calories and make you feel and actually be healthier.
