Things to Consider When Choosing LTL Freight Carrier

An LTL Freight Carrier is a type of shipping for relatively light loads. The letters LTL here stand for ‘Less than Truck Load’, suggesting a smaller freight that could fit into a van or potentially even a car. Parcel carriers for instance will often transport small packages and freight that can be broken down into smaller units.

If you are considering using LTL freight carrier for your business, or for your personal use, then there are a few different things you need to factor into your decision.

Things to Consider When Choosing LTL Freight Carrier

Guarantee

Ask whether the service comes with any sort of guarantee. The best services will offer a money-back assurance.

Insurance

Likewise, you should look for freight carriers that offer insurance. If they damage the shipment, then it is only right that you should not have to pay for that damage.

Sealed Trailer Space

The best carriers will provide at least some sealed space within the trailer, meaning that your packages can be kept apart from others and safely packed in tight.

Health and Safety Requirements

Consider whether the carrier meets the necessary health and safety regulations for your location and for the type of packaging you will be sending. This is especially important when sending food.

Customer Experience

What will the experience be like for your customers or recipients? What features does the carrier offer for the buyer? For instance – will they be able to track the parcels? Will they be able to choose a time slot?

Environmentalism

Is the service offered environmentally friendly? Do they take measures to try and avoid wasted fuel? This may not matter to you, or perhaps it is just something you hadn’t considered before. It is always good to ask how they optimize their fuel usage.
